About St. James Kilolo Secondary School

School History
From the end of November, 2007, The Catholic Diocese of Iringa in Collaboration with Orphans and Social Development Organization (OSDO) through the generosity of Father Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets and Mr. & Mrs John Ballesty from Australia, decided to start the construction of school for Ordinary and Advanced level of education at the cost of USA $ 1,400,000 to its completion for servicing 900 students.

20% of these students being orphans who study for free and 20% being from the poor families in Tanzania to pay half of the school fees( with subsidy) and 60% for full fee paying students to help us run the school.

This was done as the result of the Executive Committee Meeting held on 12/05/2007 at Kilolo Parish under the chairmanship of the parish priest (Rev.Fr.Victor Ngalembula) the chief trustee of the Organization representing the catholic diocese of Iringa.

The idea of constructing the school
The idea of building this school came up so as we join the efforts made by the government, religious institutions and other charitable organizations in the field of education as Kilolo has got 36 secondary schools providing education from form one to form four with only two secondary schools providing education from form five to form six.

St. James Secondary School is built for both Ordinary and advanced level of education to the beneficiaries. Therefore, the school project aims at promoting positive living standards of Orphans in order to minimize the number of street children who migrate to town without skills after completion of their standard seven (primary) educations.
